TN Promise Seniors – The deadline to complete the FAFSA is February 1. Don’t delay, do it now! If you miss that deadline, then you’re out of the program.
No minimum GPA or ACT score is required.
It’s a simple two part process. Step one is to create the account, unless they are in, or have taken, a DE class. In that case, those students already have an account.
The second step is to actually apply for TN Promise. Every year, several students think they have applied for TN Promise, but in reality, all they did was create an account.
It’s important to get a confirmation email. If you think you signed up successfully for TN Promise, but didn’t get a confirmation email, then you aren’t enrolled in the program. You have to log back into the portal and complete the application process.

TN Promise, UT Promise and FAFSA

Seniors, the TN Promise application deadline is November 2, 2020. That is a firm deadline. Go to www.tnpromise.gov to apply. It only takes a few minutes to sign up, but don’t delay. You never know if you’re going to have a computer issue that’ll interfere with your application process. Sign up now. By the way, TN Promise is free and it doesn’t require a minimum GPA or ACT score.
This week, TSAC is kicking off a weekly FAFSA webinar series. Each Monday, TSAC will host a FAFSA Line-by-Line webinar at 7PM ET / 6PM CT for students and families seeking a walkthrough of the FAFSA. These webinars will go over the entire application, from start to submission. On Fridays, TSAC will host FAFSA FAQ Fridays at 12:30PM ET / 11:30AM CT. These webinars will provide counselors, students and families with a forum to ask questions about the FAFSA. In order to participate, students and families must register at https://www.tn.gov/thec/covid-19-campus-information/outreach-virtual-presentations/2020/10/19/fafsa-line-by-line.html. Remember, students must file the 2021-2022 FAFSA by February 1, 2021 in order to be eligible for TN Promise.
Additionally, the Class of 2021 UT Promise scholarship application is now open! UT Promise is a last-dollar scholarship for students accepted into undergraduate programs at UT Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin and Memphis. Keep in mind, UT Promise functions separately from TN Promise and can only be used for universities in the UT system. Students must meet all TN Promise requirements, in addition to the college admissions and UT Promise application, prior to enrollment at a UT institution in the fall. In order to be eligible for UT Promise, students must apply to TN Promise by November 2, 2020 as well as UT Promise by December 1, 2020.
TN Promise requires community service hours. Students can begin submitting volunteer hours. To see a breakdown of these requirements or to submit your hours, go to
